The continues improvement of processes (CIP) is for decades in use within the automotive manufacturing industry. Due to the growing complexity of processes
more and more companies change their focus to LEAN Management or to the Six Sigma methodology, to keep the improvement process going.

Mühlhoff Umformtechnik GmbH decided years ago to implement a combination out of LEAN Management and Six Sigma. With this step we secure to fulfil the
requirements from the market also we can reach out to all employees to part of the improvement process.
Everything started in May 2009 with a ChampionsDay. Here at Mühlhoff Champions are on the one side the upper Management level and on the other side the work
council. These groups are responsible for the successful execution of LEAN Six Sigma Projects. To be able to fulfil this responsible function, it is
necessary that this “Leader” have a broad knowledge of the tools and the methodology to implement LEAN Six Sigma Projects.

Subsequently the internal training of the improvement experts (LEAN Six Sigma Yellow belt) begun. Those employees were intensively trained in the LEAN Six
Sigma methodology and successfully passed the exam. In several internal projects big improvements were achieved in cooperation with other departments.

Furthermore in 2012 there will be more employees (Qualification Yellow & Green Belt) in this program trained. Which could be noticed as a unique fact, is,
that the LEAN Six Sigma White Belt training is part of the apprenticeship program for the commercial and technical apprentices.

The introduction and implementation of the LEAN Six Sigma methodology here at Mühlhoff Umformtechnik Gmbh since 2009 was observed from several customers on
site.

Through the approved auditions of the so called LEAN Deployments from several customers, it is herewith proven, that the anchored methods within the
Mühlhoff Production System (MPS), with the focus towards substantial improvements, was the right decision to steer this company.

It is still a long way to go, but the Mühlhoff Umformtechnik GmbH is ready and willing to walk the distance.
